Harry S. Truman State Park
Welcome to Missouri's Harry S. Truman State Park, named for the 33rd President of the United States who was himself from Missouri.
Park History: In 1962 the Kaysinger Bluff Dam was built and created a 55,600 acre lake which helped to not only generate clean and cheap electricity but also helped a diverse wildlife area rich in Missouri history. Harry S. Truman State Park was established in 1983 a little more than a decade after the former president's passing.
Flora and Fauna: The natural setting of Harry S. Truman State Park has been left relatively untouched since the first Europeans arrived in the region. Some of the plants that grow inside the park boundaries include asters, indigos, mountain mints, oaks, and cedars. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include white-tailed deer, beavers, foxes, coyotes, woodpeckers, and wild turkeys. Please treat their home with respect.
