Anaconda Smoke Stack State Park
Welcome to Anaconda Smoke Stack State Park located in Anaconda, Montana. This is the location of an old smelter stack built by the Anaconda Copper Company in 1919. To this day, it is one of the world's tallest, free-standing brick structures at over 585 feet in height (30 feet higher than the Washington Monument). The smelter closed in 1980 and serves as a reminder of the hardships faced by communities dependent on finite resources. It is on the National Register of Historic places but can only be viewed from a distance. Come on out and learn some history!
