Morrow Mountain State Park
Welcome to North Carolina's Morrow Mountain State Park located east of Charlotte in the town of Albemarle. This park boasts over 15 miles of multipurpose trails just waiting to be explored. Morrow Mountain itself is one of the highest natural points in the local Piedmont region.
Park History: This park contains over 10,000 years of human history. Clearly the first people on this land were Native Americans. In the late 18th century a colony was established in the area by a Scotch-Irish immigrant named John Kirk and various VIP's passed through the region including Jefferson Davis, Henry Ford, and Thomas Edison. It wasn't until the 1930's that the land finally became a state park.
Boating and Fishing: The park has a boat ramp giving those with watercraft access to Lake Tillery and the Pee Dee River. Those who do not own boats can rent them at the park. The waters contain bass, bluegill, catfish, and crappie. Come out and cast a line.
Camping and Lodging: The campground at Morrow Mountain State Park has 106 campsites. Some of them are for tents and others for trailers and RV's. Bathhouses are located nearby. For those who would rather sleep indoors the park also has a few cabins. Come out and stay a few nights.
