Explore a true backcountry experience at South Mountains State Park. Located in North

Carolina, this park features elevations up to 3,000 feet and has 80-foot waterfalls. There

are more than 40 miles of trails for hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers. There are

drive-to sites available next to the Jacob Fork River as well.

There are different trails to pick from, ranging from beginner-friendly to more advanced.

In addition to the trails, you can also go fishing! There is no entry fee into the park, and

there are restrooms at the entrance, making it convenient for visitors. If you plan on

swimming, be sure to bring a change of clothes!

Make sure to check out the park’s website to make reservations and read about park

rules. It’s normal not to have cell service in this park, so make a note of that. This scenic

North Carolina Park is worth the visit.
