Pilot Mountain State Park
Welcome to a place that has long been a recreational landmark and has also been a navigational landmark for centuries longer, North Carolina's beautiflu Pilot Mountain State Park located in Pinnacle. The Saura Native American tribe called the mountain "Jomeokee" which translates in English to great guide or pilot. This park was first established in 1968 as North Carolina's 14th state park. The summit of Pilot Mountain is about 2000 feet above sea level and offers magnificent views of North Carolina's Piedmont Region as well as the Blue Ridge Mountains. Some of the park's cliffs are open for rock-climbing and rappelling.
Camping: Pilot Mountain State Park's campground has 42 campsites but unfortunately does not have hookups or dump stations. Bath houses are located nearby. Come out and stay a few nights.
