Lake Sakakawea State Park
Welcome to North Dakota's beautiful Lake Sakakawea State Park, located on one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the United States at nearly 368,000 acres. This lake was created when the Garrison Dam was built in the 1950's. Some of the park's campsites do have electricity. To contact the park office please call 701-487-3315.
Sakakawea was the name of a young Shoshone woman who traveled on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. It is a Hidatsa word for Bird-Woman.
