Welcome to Nebraska's beautiful Calamus State Recreation Area located in the sandhills region near Burwell.

Boating: Calamus Reservoir is over 5,100 acres in size and is thus open to all types of watercraft. Come out and spend a day water-skiing.

Camping: Calamus State Recreation Area boasts 132 RV campsites with electricity and water. There are also 52 primitive sites. There are hot showers and dump stations located nearby.

Swimming: Calamus State Recreation Area has beautiful sandy swimming beaches making it a popular place on hot summer days. There are no lifeguards on duty so please swim at your own risk.

Picnicking: Having such a large picnic area helps make this place popular. There are 204 tables, 216 grills, and one shelter.
