Stark Park

Manchester, New Hampshire

Welcome to Stark Park located in Manchester, New Hampshire. This piece of land is named for General John Stark, a man who grew up in New Hampshire in the 18th Century. At the age of 24 he was kidnapped by the local Abenaki tribe and forced to run their gauntlet. His service in the Army included his Revolutionary War leadership in the Battle of Bunker Hill. Stark retired from the Army after the war and it was his fighting spirit that helped lead to New Hampshire's State Motto "Live Free or Die. Death is not the worst of evils." Stark Park was first established in 1896 on land the land where he was buried. It is not known whether or not Tony Stark is a descendant of this man (RecPlanet Joke). Come out and explore and learn a little history.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on October 10, 2015.
