Belleville Park
Welcome to Belleville Park, a wooded medium sized park on the banks of the Second River (formerly part of the Morris Canal) in Belleville, New Jersey.
Park History: The land that is now Belleville Park was first acquired in 1915 but due to a labor shortage during World War I it was not completed until 1922. The Olmsted Brothers helped design this park and to this day, their works of landscaping can still be seen from the winding paths to the sweeping lawns or shrubs and coniferous trees. Within the park boundaries are a number of former industrial sites giving the visitor an example of early urban rehabilitation. In the south end of the park there is a shallow depression that was once part of an old rock quarry. Come on out and have fun.
