Vailsburg Park

Newark, New Jersey

Welcome to Vailsburg Park located in Newark, New Jersey. This is not the largest park to be operated by Essex County but it is a very popular one. The County first approved the $500K used to purchase the land back in 1915 and in 1917 development of the park began. In the roaring 1920's the legendary Olmstead Brothers helped to design this beautiful park. During World War I and World War II the United States Army trained some of it's troops at this park.

Today this park has a half-mile exercise trail, a senior citizens center, lighted basketball courts allowing for night games, two soccer fields, and five baseball fields. Come out and have fun!
