Welcome to New Jersey's beautiful Bass River State Forest. The state government first purchased this land in 1905 for many purposes including conservation, protection of water sources, recreation, and timber management. The forest contains a 67 acre man-made lake known as Lake Absegami which is a good place for fishing, paddling, and even swimming on hot summer days. Come out and explore.
