Verona Park

Verona, New Jersey

Welcome to Verona Park located in Essex County New Jersey. Before this land became a park it was swampland up until the early 19th century when a man named Dr. Bohn built a dam with the intend to construct a grist mill. The resulting lake was a beautiful site that lured many visitors even before it was officially public property. It wasn't until the early roaring 1920's, over a century after the dam's construction and just a few years after World War I , that Essex County began to purchase the first parcels of land. The Olmstead Brothers played a big part in designing the park. Today this park still boasts summer concerts, a softball field, bocce courts, a 13 acre lake, and much more. Come on out and explore.
