Pancho Villa State Park
Welcome to Pancho Villa State Park located not far from the United States/Mexico border! On March 19th 1816, Mexican General Francisco "Pancho" Villa invaded the town of Columbus and attacked a military camp killing 18 Americans in what was the only ground invasion of the United States since the War of 1812. The park is located on what used to be the military camp where US General John J. "Black Jack" Pershing launched 10,000 troops on an 11 month and 500 mile long journey in search of Pancho Villa. Many historical exhibits on the war are on display in the park today. Many of the buildings in the park are on the National Register of Historic Places including the former U.S Customs House and the Recreation Hall. Come on out and learn some history and have fun.
The park's campsites have electrical hookups. To contact the office please call 575-531-2711.
