Moapa Valley National Wildlife Refuge
Welcome to Moapa Valley National Wildlife Refuge located in Clark County, Nevada not far from Las Vegas. This small refuge was established on September 10, 1979 in order to protect habitat for the endangered Moapa dace, a small fish that is endemic to the Muddy River system. The 106 acres that make up this refuge are critical to help protect this fish from extinction and it’s waters are supported by six hot springs that emerge from the refuge’s center. Due to the small size and fragile nature of this refuge, it is closed to the public most of the time.
