Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge
Welcome to one of the most remote refuges in the lower 48 states, the Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge, an oasis of marshes, grasslands, and brush covered uplands located east of the Ruby Mountains and south of the Ruby Valley in northeast Nevada. Due to it’s location along two important bird migration corridors, the Central and Pacific Flyways, Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge is home to a wide variety of wild critters and is labeled as one of the 500 Globally Important Bird Areas by the American Bird Conservancy. The preserve’s South Marsh has been designed as a National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service and protects the largest population of nesting canvasback ducks west of the Mississippi River. Some of the other wild critters include mule deer, and over 220 bird species. Please treat their home with respect. For the lover of the outdoors this refuge is a popular angler’s destination for trout and bass year round. Come on out and have a blast!
