Red Hook Park
Red Hook Park is an active urban recreation area in New York City's Brooklyn section. The park gets it's name from the area which the 17th century Dutch settlers called Roode Hoek which means red soil. Over the years many ships including Civil War battle ships docked near here and it was here where Al Capone received the injury that got him the nickname Scarface. The park first opened in 1936 and mayor Fiorella LaGuardia was there at the opening ceremony.
