Garvie’s Point Preserve

Glen Cove, New York

Garvie's Point Preserve is a beautiful nature preserve in Glen Cove, New York. The park's museum has lots of information about glacial retreats effect on the region's landscapes at the end of the last ice age as well as the region's Native American history. A Scottish immigrant named Dr. Thomas Garvie moved to the region in the 18th century and most of this park's land was part of his estate. This park was first established in 1963. Some of the resident wildlife include raccoons, woodchucks, and over 140 species of birds.
