Mitchel Square
Welcome to Mitchel Square in New York City, New York. This park was named in memory of John Purroy Mitchell, the youngest mayor in New York City history who was elected at the age of 34 in 1913. After serving as mayor he joined the Army Aviation Corps while heeding the call to WWI. Sadly he died in training after falling from a plane in Lake Charles Louisiana on July 6, 1918.
