Washington Square Park

New York City, New York

Washington Square Park is a beautiful urban playground located in lower Manhattan in New York City. This park is named for George Washington, the first president of the United States. It started off as a marshy woodland and once served as a cemetery and now services as a recreational area. The park is well known for it's beautiful fountain as well as it's beautiful arch that was first dedicated in 1895. In 1995, the year of the arch's centennial, the park underwent a nearly $1million renovation.
