Blydenburgh County Park
Welcome to Blydenburgh County Park in the Long Island community of Smithtown, New York just south of Caleb Smith State Park. The park's Stump Pond was created in 1798 when a man named Isaac Blydenburgh, with the help of 2 of his cousins, Caleb Smith II and Joshua Smith II, dammed the headwaters of the Nissequogue River in order to build a grist mill. There were many tree stumps in the pond and that's how it got it's name and Caleb and Joshua were probably members of the family for whom the town is named. Come out and explore nearly 6 miles of trails (horseback riding requires special permit).
Camping: Camping season at Blydenburgh County Park is from April 1 to November 11th and the campground has both tent sites as well as RV sites. Come out and stay a few nights.
The park's official website says 627 acres but the county GIS data gives the number below. Thus the exact acreage is unknown.
