Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Brecksville, Ohio

Just 20 miles South of Cleveland, you can find Ohio’s only National Park. Cuyahoga Valley National Park has 33,000 acres of scenic rolling hills, vast farmlands, and deep forests. The land was created into a recreational area in the 70s and later re-designated as a National Park in 2000. There’s a little bit of something for everyone here, whether you want to bird watch, hike, kayak, go to a local winery, or even attend a farmers’ market. The Cuyahoga Valley land is rich with history, with remains of the Ohio & Erie Canal on site. The Cuyahoga River or the “Crooked River” is also found in this Park. There are over 135 miles of hiking trails where backcountry visitors can use primitive campsites. Many rare and endangers animals find refuge on the land, including the bald eagle, peregrine falcons, and bats. Be sure to keep your eye out for them!
