Carriage Hill MetroPark

Dayton, Ohio

Welcome to Carriage Hill MetroPark located in Dayton, Ohio.

Park History: The land that is now Carriage Hill MetroPark was first settled by Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Arnold in the early 1830's after the couple had left Virginia and settled on land once owned by Mrs. Arnold's father on the banks of Dry Run in Ohio. Mr. Arnold's youngest son Henry Arnold purchased his fathers land in 1864 and began implementing his own plans for the farm. By 1878 he had built a new farmhouse and barn. The next one to run the farm was Henry Arnold's son Henry C. Arnold who managed it from 1891 until 1908. Emma Arnold was the last one in the family to own the land before selling it in 1916. The land went through several owners before it was finally purchased by the park district in 1968.

Today this beautiful park boast numerous recreational opportunities including multipurpose trails. Come on out and explore.
