Mohican-Memorial State Forest
Welcome to Mohican-Memorial State Forest located in Ashland County, Ohio halfway between Cleveland and the State Capitol.
Forest History: The State of Indiana began purchasing the land that is now Mohican-Memorial State Forest in 1928. Much of this forest was once used for agriculture but over the years much work has been done by the Civilian Conservation Corps and others groups in order to restore the land to it's natural state. Buried beneath the bedrock in one section of this forest is the development of a natural gas storage facility so please call before digging (RecPlanet Joke). Flora and Fauna: Mohican-Memorial State Forest helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the forest boundaries include beeches, maples, hickories, pines, oaks, cherries, walnuts, and aspens. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include deer, raccoons, squirrels, foxes, and wild turkeys. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this forest boasts over 32 miles of trails, 10 campsites, and so much more. Come on out and explore!
