Silver Creek Metro Park
Welcome to Silver Creek Metro Park located in Norton, Ohio.
Park History: Before this land became a park it was the Harter Dairy Farm which traces it's roots back to the Civil War Era. The barn and some of the fence rows are still standing inside the park boundaries today. The Metro Parks district purchased the land in 1966 and planted thousands of trees over the years. In the early 1990's a 50 acre lake was dug and filled with spring water flowing from an old nearby mine.
Flora and Fauna: Silver Creek Metro Park helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the park boundaries include sycamores, hickories, beeches, maples, red oaks, and wildflowers. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include bluebirds, meadowlarks, white-tailed deer, rabbits, frogs, mice, and hawks. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors Silver Creek Metro Park boasts over 11 miles of trails, pedal boat rentals, picnic tables, and much more. Come on out and explore! The picnic shelters have grills and can be reserved by calling 330-867-5511.
