Heavener Runestone State Park

Welcome to Oklahoma's Heavener Runestone State Park located in Heavener, Oklahoma. This park was first established in 1970's and is focused on a Swedish-inscribed runestone that was discovered in the 1920's (or according to others by Choctaws in the 1830's) and is home to an annual Viking Festival. The origin of the stone remains a mystery but some believe that Vikings may have explored Oklahoma around 1000 A.D. Come out and have a nice picnic, bring the kids to the playground, have fun.
