Great Salt Plains State Park
Welcome to Oklahoma's Great Salt Plains State Park located near the town of Jet not too far from Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge. This unique park got it's name from the fact that millions of years ago the landscape here was part of a seabed and a lot of the salt is still leftover and that includes the waters of Great Salt Plains lake which are about half as salty as the ocean which would make them a 14th as salt as Utah's Great Salt Lake.
Boating and Fishing: Fortunately the lake is not too salty for freshwater fish and anglers come here to catch hybrid stripers, sandbass, saugeye, catfish, and many others. Camping and Lodging: Great Salt Plains State Park's campground is small with only one site with full hookups. The park also has eco-friendly cabins that each have a kitchen,
