Raccoon Creek State Park
Welcome to Raccoon Creek State Park located near Hookstown, Pennsylvania. This park has it's roots in the 1930's when the Civilian Conservation Corps, working under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration developed this park's amenities as a Recreational Demonstration Area. In 1945 the Federal Government transferred the land to the State of Pennsylvania and today it is ranked as one of the state's most beautiful State Parks.
For the recreational enthusiast this park has a 101 acre lake (electric boat motors only) stocked with bass, catfish, and numerous others, a 500 foot sandy swimming beach open from late May till Mid-September, over 170 campsites (some developed some primitive), over 40 miles of multipurpose trails, and more. Come out and explore. Raccoon Creek State Park also protects the home of many wild animals such as raccoons (as the name implies), white tailed deer, skunks, foxes, and over 700 species of plants!
