Pymatuning State Park
Welcome to one of the most visited State Park's in the State of Pennsylvania, Pymatuning State Park, home of the State's largest lake the Pymatuning Reservoir.
Park History: Long before the arrival of the first European settlers, the land that is now Pymatuning State Park was prime hunting ground and burial ground for the Seneca and Erie Native American tribes. The name Pymatuning is a Native American word that translates to "the Crooked Mouthed Man's Dwelling Place." In more recent history a severe flood devastated the region in 1913 which sparked advocacy for the creation of a large reservoir. In August 1934, Pennsylvania Governor Gifford Pinchot dedicated the Pymatuning Dam after nearly 3 years and nearly $4 million of hard work.
For the lover of the outdoors Pymatuning State Park boasts numerous aquatic opportunities, an 18 hole disc golf course, two campgrounds(some sites have hookups and others do not), and much more. Come on out and explore!
