Oil Creek State Park

Oil City, Pennsylvania

Welcome to Pennsylvania's Oil Creek State Park located near Titusville. The creek that runs through this park got it's name because it is located in the region where they had the world's first commercial oil well back in 1859. The well was struck by a man named Colonel Edwin Drake. Eventually the creek became flowing with traces of petroleum but fortunately it is much cleaner today.
