Laurel Mountain State Park

Rector, Pennsylvania

Welcome to Laurel Mountain State Park, a Pennsylvania ski resort. Long before the State of Pennsylvania purchased this land it was owned by the Byers and Allen Lumber Company which overharvested the land's forest resources and left it almost a wasteland. Today it has been very successfully restored to a state of nature. The park's popular ski resort was operated by a man named General Richard K. Mellon for many years. Mellon ultimately gave the land to the State of Pennsylvania in 1964 and today it remains a popular skiers destination. Come on out and have fun.
