Encke Park

Wayne, Pennsylvania

Welcome to Encke Park in Wayne, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. Up until the mid 1940's, this park was the site of the local sewage treatment plant. The plant shut down and was vacant for years before the site became a park in 1965 and was eventually named for the founder of the Township Recreation Department, Ethel G. Encke. Come hit some homers, hit some golf balls at the John L. Cappelli Memorial Driving Range, or hang ten at the skate park and don't worry, the place no longer smells like a sewage treatment facility.
