Welcome to Manchester State Forest, a sandy soiled oasis of pine forests, swamps and bays located in eastern South Carolina in Clarendon and Sumter Counties. Forest History: For many decades Manchester State Forest has been harvested for it’s timber. In 1989 Hurricane Hugo took a devastating toll on the forest and over 65% of the timber base was destroyed.
