Welcome to McKinney Falls State Park located in Austin, Texas. This beautiful park is named after Thomas F. McKinney, one of the first colonists to arrive in the Austin region in the early 19th century. McKinney became a breeder of race horses and built the first flour mill in the region. The ruins of the man's cabin and one of his old horse stables are still standing in the park today. McKinney Falls State Park helps protect one of the oldest known trees in the State of Texas, "Old Baldy" a cypress tree that is over 5 centuries in age.
For the outdoorsman McKinney Falls State Park boasts multipurpose trails, 69 developed campsites with electricity and water as well as a dozen primitive sites, awesome bird-watching opportunities, a swimming hole, and much more. The wildlife enthusiast can keep an eye out for armadillos, white tailed deer, and numerous birds. Come out and explore!
