Palo Duro Canyon State Park
Welcome to the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon State Park located in western Texas. Palo Duro Canyon is the second largest canyon in the United States, only the Grand Canyon is larger. Some of the land's first human inhabitants arrived over 12,000 years ago and hunted the now extinct wooly mammoth. In more recent times there was a battle between the Native Americans and the white settlers in the fall of 1874. In 1933 the park was established and the Civilian Conservation Corps helped build many of it's facilities. Come out and explore over 30 miles of multipurpose trails.
