Welcome to Bear Lake State Park located in the high Rocky Mountains in Garden City, Utah near the Idaho State Line.  

Park History: Bear Lake itself was formed over 28,000 years ago by earthquakes. The lake is 20 miles long, eight miles wide and 208 feet deep. The lake's unique shade of green comes from the calcium carbonates in the waters. The first known white man to discover this lake was an explorer for the North West Fur Company named Don Mackenzie. He came to the region in 1819 with hopes of trapping fur-bearing animals and named the lake Black Bear Lake. In the late 1820's the lake was a popular gathering site for Native American and white traders. The gatherings had so many campfires that one man called it "a lighted city."  

For the lover of the outdoors this park boasts beautiful Caribbean-blue waters stocked with whitefish, cutthroat, cisco and mackinaw, inland scuba diving opportunities, numerous campgrounds, and so much more. Come on out and have fun.
