Welcome to Natural Bridges National Monument located near Lake Powell, Utah.

Park History: The human history of Natural Bridges National Monument dates back over 9,000 years ago when hunter-gatherers ruled the landscape. Many of their tools and weapons have been unearthed by archeologists. Around the year 700 AD the ancestors of the Puebloans began to set up farms on the mesa tops. About 1100 AD new migrants moved into the Puebloan houses and started farming the best-watered soils in the region. In the 14th century the Puebloans moved southward and soon the Navajos and Paiutes moved into the region.

The first known white man to discover Natural Bridges was prospector Cass White who came searching for gold but instead found the bridges in 1883. In 1904 National Geographic publicized the bridges and they became a National Monument in 1908 under President Theodore Roosevelt.

Flora and Fauna: Natural Bridges National Monument helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the boundaries include whipple fishhook cacti, monkey flowers, columbines, cottonwoods, and willows. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include mule deer, cottontails, kangaroo rats, lizards, and snakes. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors this park boasts numerous overlooks, 13 campsites, and so much more. Come on out and explore!
