Utah Lake State Park

Welcome to Utah Lake State Park, located on the shores of Utah's largest freshwater lake (The Great Salt Lake is larger but it's salt water) near Provo. This lake is stocked with bass, catfish, walleye, and many others. It is a very popular water sports destination. It is not only the largest freshwater lake in Utah but also one of the largest freshwater lakes in the American West. This region only receives about 15 inches of rainfall annually.

Park History: On September 21, 1776, just months after the United States was born, the Dominguez and Escalante Party climbed a small hill at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon and looked down upon Utah Lake. One member of the party, Bernardo Pacheco described it as such "This place is the most pleasant, beautiful and fertile in all New Spain." In the 19th century many fur traders flocked to the region including Peter Skeen Ogden, Daniel T. Potts, Osborne Russell, Jedediah Strong Smith, and Jim Bridger. In 1933, during the Great Depression, the Civilian Conservation Corps helped to build the park's facilities which include campgrounds, boat ramps, and more. Come on out and have a blast!
