The parks 150 acre lake is a popular anglers destination where one can catch yellow perch, largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill(fishing licenses are sold inside the park). The park's lake also has a boat ramp as well as a swimming beach with lifeguard's on duty. The park also boasts miles of multipurpose trails and several campgrounds and picnic areas.
Park History: The land that is now Holliday Lake State Park as well as the surrounding Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest was cleared for agricultural purposes in the 19th century. In the 1930's the US Government began to purchase the farms and reforest them through the Resettlement Administration. The construction of a dam formed Holliday Lake in 1938 and the State of Virginia took over the management of the land from the US Department of Agriculture and in 1972, the area became a state park. Come on out and have a blast! Most of the campgrounds come with electricity and running water.
