Welcome to Virginia's Largest State Park, Pocahontas State Park located only 20 miles from Virginia's State Capitol!

Park History: In 1946 the National Park Service donated nearly 8,000 acres to the State of Virginia for what would become Pocahontas State Park. In 1989 the State of Virginia and Chesterfield County helped to expand the park's facilities to accommodate to the needs of the residents of Richmond. The park is named for the legendary Native American Princess Pocahontas, daughter of Chief Powhatan, of whom Walt Disney made an animated movie.

Today the park boasts miles of multipurpose trails, over 100 campsites, and numerous activities for canoeing and kayaking. Come on out and explore!
