McLean Virginia Parks , Virginia National Parks

Welcome to Great Falls Park located on the banks of the Potomac River in McLean, Virginia. The first humans to inhabit this land were Native Americans who arrived over 10,000 years ago. The park itself was first established in 1966 thereby making it half the age of the National Park Service at the time of the Centennial when this description was written in 2016. Some of the resident wildlife include white-tailed deer, box turtles, and over 163 species of birds making it a popular place with birders who live in the DC area. Many kayakers come here to experience the Class II and Class IV rapids. Come out and explore over 15 miles of multipurpose trails.
