Douthat State Park

Welcome to Douthat State Park, ranked as one of the top 10 state parks in the nation by the "Outside Family Vacation Guide" and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This was one of the six original Virginia State Parks that opened in 1936. Nestled in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains this park boasts some of Virginia's most beautiful scenery, a 50 acre lake, campsites, cabins, a lodge, and over 40 miles of multipurpose trails.
Park History: Douthat was one of the original six state parks of the 1930's. The initial 1,920 acres were donated to the state of Virginia by a group of businessmen known as the Douthat Land Company. The rest of the land was purchased with funds appropriated by the Virginia General Assembly. In 1986, on the parks 50th anniversary, Douthat became recognized as a Nationally Registered Historic District. Come on out and have a blast!
