Welcome to Sailor's Creek Battlefield Historical State Park!

 

Park History: This land was the site of the Battle of Sailor's Creek, a Civil War Battle that happened on April 6, 1865 a day that was called "The Black Thursday of the Confederacy." General Robert E. Lee lost 7,700 men including 8 of his generals in this battle and 3 days later he surrendered at the Appomattox Court House thus ending the Civil War in Virginia. Today the park offers over 3 miles of hiking trails and a whole lot of history. Come on out and learn!
