Crystal Lake State Park is located on the shores of Crystal Lake in the town of Barton, located in northern Vermont. In the 18th century during the Revolutionary War, a man by the name of Robert Rogers, a man who is believed to have had a good knowledge of this area, entered this region with his soldiers and found safeground. In the early 20th century there was a granite quarry in operation not far from this site and Steamboats crossed Crystal Lake in order to transport the mined rocks. Some of the granite mined from the quarry can be seen in the present day beach house at Crystal Lake State Park. During the Great Depression Era the Civilian Conservation corps helped to construct many of the park's amenities. Crystal Lake itself is one mild wide, three miles long, and up to 100 feet deep in places. Today many people come to this park to enjoy it's beautiful swimming beach, stay in it's modern day cottage, or just to enjoy the scenery. Come out and explore!
