Hovander Homestead Park
Welcome to Hovander Homestead Park located on the banks of the Nooksak River in Ferndale, Washington. This park contains a lot of history of Washington's pioneer farming days. In fact, there are still some barnyard animals here today and children will love them as well as the barnyard themed playground. Come explore the trails and climb up the 50 foot observation tower for a great view of Tennent Lake.
Picnicking: There are 4 picnic areas at Hovander Homestead Park. The Group Picnic Shelter is the largest and can fit up to 250 people. The Water Tower Picnic Area can fit up to 50 people and rather than being a traditional shelter it has a pop up canopy. The Red and Blue Picnic Areas each have a 50 person capacity and all the park's picnic areas have grills.
Trails: Hovander Homestead Park has some great trails. The nearly 2 mile Hovander River Trail is open for people on bicycles and people on foot. There is also a 1.4 mile Tennant Lake Marsh Boardwalk Trail that extends out into the marsh where people can do some great bird-watching. And finally there is the easy half mile Hovander Connector Trail which connects the Hovander Site with Tennant Lake.
