Welcome to Fort Simcoe State Park located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Southern Washington on the Yakama Native American Reservation. This park is a great place where one can learn about Native American history. This park helps protect the habitat of many wild animals including the Lewis Woodpecker which was named after explorer Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The fort itself was established in the mid-19th century in an attempt to keep peaceful relations between the natives and the settlers.
