Welcome to the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. This forest makes up a segment of the Ice Age National Scientific Reserve.
Forest History: In the roaring 1920’s the Milwaukee metropolitan area was growing and local leaders saw the need for a conservation area to protect the headwaters of the Milwaukee River. In 1926 the Izaak Walton League bought over 800 acres of land and donated it to the State of Wisconsin 10 years later.
