Welcome to Wisconsin's unique and beautiful Rib Mountain State Park located near Wausau. This park is home to some of the oldest known rock in the world, dating back over 1.7 billion years. At 1924 feet above sea level this is the fourth highest natural point in the State of Wisconsin. The mountain was used for industrial purposes in the late 19th and early 20th centuries but was finally a state park in 1923. Some of the amenities were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. There are over 13 miles of trails just waiting to be explored.
