Nopiming Provincial Park
Welcome to Manitoba's beautiful and grand Nopiming Provincial Park. One of this park's more unique features is it's 2.5 billion year old bedrock that was once part of an ancient mountain range that may actually predate what is the oldest remaining mountain range in the world today, the Appalachians. Today the rock pierces above the surface in many places in this park's evergreen, aspen, and birch forests that this park protects.
Hiking: Come out and explore many miles of backcountry wilderness trails. While hiking you may see moose, black bears, timber wolves, caribou, and many others.
Human History of Nopiming Provincial Park: Archeological evidence tells us that the first humans to live in this region arrived over 8,000 years ago. Their descendents which include members of the Ojibwe tribe still live in the region today. In the early 20th century much of the land in this region was mined for it's gold resources.
