Pinery Provincial Park

Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada

Located on the shores of Lake Huron, Pinery Provincial Park is 8 kms south of Grand Bend, Ontario. The park is open year-round, offering cross-country skiing or even camping in a yurt during the winter season. For a nominal fee, trail guides can be purchased for most of the park's 10 walking trails. The guides are filled with interesting facts on the unique characteristics of each trail; for example, at night on the Carolinian trail, flying squirrels can be seen swinging through the trees from large rope-like vines! To learn even more about Pinery Park, you can take a guided tour with a Naturalist, available on 6 of its walking trails.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on January 16, 2015.
