Welcome to Goodwin Park located in Tempe, Arizona. This suburban Phoenix community park is named in honor of the Goodwin Family, who made many contributions to political, civic, and business roles in Tempe, Arizona over the years. James Goodwin was a man who owned a ranch in the area and worked with his brothers to help build the Phoenix, Mesa, and Tempe railway as well as a portion of the Temple Canal. James would later serve as a state legislator after Arizona gained statehood in 1912. Will Goodwin is credited with building the famous Goodwin Opera House. Tom Goodwin started off as a farmer but eventually opened his own grocery store with his brother Will before being elected to the Tempe City Council. And finally, the youngest of the brothers, Garfield Goodwin is credited with establishing the Goodwin Novelty Store.
Today this park named in the memory of the Goodwin brothers has a picnic area with grills, a soccer field, and a playground for the kids. So whether you live in the greater Phoenix area or are just visiting come out and have some fun! To reserve the picnic shelter or other facility please call 480-350-5200.
